Unique Features of FortressMail

1. No more Filters - Unlike traditional Spam-Filtering software (such as Spam Bully $29.95,
Inboxer $29.95, Mailwasher Pro $37), FortressMail blocks all your SPAM without you creating a single Spam-Filter rule. This means that
any new words or combination of words thought up by the Spammers will not affect you as FortressMail does not use Spam-Filters. With Spam-
Filters you have to download the SPAM to be able to filter it. This takes time and bandwidth and is a nightmare on a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant)
or a
laptop in a hotel room. With FortressMail you never download the SPAM; we stop the SPAM at source so you don't need a filter.
Most Spam-filters do not work with PDAs or Smartphones, FortressMail controls your mail box so the SPAM never gets to your PDA or Smartphone.
2. No Downloading and Deleting - Most people get very frustrated with setting up individual Spam-Filters
and over time end up deleting each SPAM email manually. Even Norton and McAfee filters still keep the SPAM in your Spam-mailbox and
you have to delete manually. If you
add up all the minutes you spend deleting emails on an annual basis, it will run into hours, if not days. With FortressMail you never need to
delete a SPAM email, as we stop it at source.
3. No Software - We offer a managed service so there is no software that you have to use. This means
there is no installation process, no downloads, no driver updates, no CD's, no manuals to read, no firewall rules to make, no patches
or software updates. Everything is seamless to you as a user, we handle all the technology.
4. Stops randomly created email addresses - One way that Spam-filters or other Spam-blocking software works is by
putting the
email address of the account that sent you the SPAM, onto a blacklist. This does not work because computers that generate SPAM, also generate random
email addresses
so that no two email addresses are the same. This means that besides building a huge blacklist of useless email addresses on your computer, your email
downloads take longer because every email sent has to be compared against the blacklist. Once again with FortressMail you don't download the SPAM, so you
don't compare SPAM against a huge blacklist. Our use of blacklist does not stop spammers, which would make it huge; we use our blacklist to stop
real users that are pests, from bothering you.
5. Total Email validation - With FortressMail every email that is sent to you must be validated. SPAM computers cannot
validate an email, which is why FortressMail is so efficient. No email slips through without validation. If the email is from somebody you have in
your on-line
address book, then the online address book automatically does the email validation.
6. Online address book - To save all your friends from having to validate themselves you can upload your Outlook
address book in one simple function. Besides populating your address book quickly you have your address book available to you online, so no matter where you
are you can gain access to your important telephone numbers and email addresses. A more valuable function is the fact that you can also download your
address book. So if your computer is stolen or your hard drive fails; then when you get a new computer you can download your address book from FortressMail
and load it back
into your computer. So besides protecting your mailbox from SPAM we also give you a tool to backup and to use your mailbox online.
Another great function of the on-line addessbook is that if you receive an email from somebody you want to add to your addressbook, with a single click
FortressMail will automatically add it to your addressbook.
7. Use of Wild cards - Some valid emails are sent by computers and not people. Let's say for example you
bid for something on e-Bay. You will get a confirmation automatically sent out from e-Bay, if you are outbid, another automated email is sent to you.
In each case you have no idea which email address is being used to send the email. With FortressMail all you need to do is put an asterisk (known as a wild card) in front of
e-Bay
in your address book, e.g. '*@e-bay.co.uk', will mean that all emails from e-Bay will be automatically validated by the on-line addressbook.
8. Mailbox queue - No email package is perfect and some emails may not be validated by the sender. Also
as a user you may not know who has sent you a valid email. We provide you an
option to view all the emails you have received either in last 24 hours, last week, or last month. If you then find an email in your queue
you really
wanted, with a single click you can choose to have it delivered and if required have the sender automatically added to your on-line addressbook. This queue is on our server so you
don't need to download the queue. It is very easy and quick to browser your queue to check for emails you may want.
9. Webmail - All users of FortressMail have the ability to get all their email on-line through a
browser, like Hotmail; this is called Webmail. This is very useful if you are travelling, at work or on a friend's computer. With Webmail
you can read
all your new emails from any computer connected to the Internet, but again you will only be reading the valid emails received and no SPAM.
10. 90 day window - People go on holiday or become ill. Therefore we allow every user a period of 90
days to validate an email. Also you will have 90 days to decide if you want to receive the email or not. If no action is taken after 90 days then the email
will automatically be deleted.
11. Virus checking - Every email collected for you by FortressMail
will be checked for a virus or malicious code. We use industrial strength Anti-virus software and will reduce your risks from receiving a virus.
As new viruses come out all the time, we can not guarantee 100% that a virus will never get through, so you will always need to have your own
Anti-virus software. Our Anti-virus software is not a guaranteed service, it is just an additional benefit provided by FortressMail.
12. Children Friendly - Due to the number of obscene spam-emails that are
currently sent on the Internet, it has been difficult to give children their own email account. With FortressMail that is now easy
as we stop all the SPAM at source, so it will not get to your childs mailbox. However as a parent you will always need to monitor your childs access
to the Internet, as it could be their friends who don't have FortressMail that forward obscene or unsuitable material.
